Shed finishes explained
Every Abwood shed comes in a choice of timber finish. The finish decides how the walls look, how well the shed keeps out damp and how much painting it needs. Here is what each one means, so you can pick the right one for what you're storing.
The five finishes
Rustic
Our entry level shed. It's sprayed in our factory with a preservative paint that lasts 8 to 12 months, depending on where the shed is and the weather, so we recommend painting it every year to make it last.
Because the boards overlap rather than lock together, a Rustic shed can let in some damp in bad weather.
Best for: garden tools, bikes, lawnmowers and other basic storage.
Rustic Pressure Treated
The same rough sawn overlapping boards as the Rustic, but pressure treated, so there's no yearly painting. You can still paint it if you like the look, but it's not needed to protect the timber.
Like the Rustic, the overlapping boards can let in some damp in bad weather.
Best for: basic storage without the upkeep.
Delux
A stronger, sturdier shed made with thicker, smooth interlocking boards. The interlocking boards are much better at keeping out damp than overlapping ones.
It's sprayed in our factory with a preservative paint that lasts 8 to 12 months, so we recommend painting it every year.
Best for: a solid, drier shed if you don't mind painting it.
Delux Pressure Treated
Our top of the range finish. The same strong interlocking boards as the Delux, pressure treated so there's no yearly painting, plus a moisture barrier lining inside to help keep out damp.
Best for: dry storage, workshops and anything that mustn't get damp.
Barrelboard
The same price and quality as Delux Pressure Treated, with the same moisture barrier lining. The only difference is the look: Barrelboard has a rounded board, while Delux Pressure Treated has a flat one.
Best for: dry storage with a rounded, log cabin style look.

PT means pressure treated. No concrete base needed: every shed sits on concrete blocks, and our team lays them out when they build it. The steel roof is an optional extra.
