Questions about Garden Sheds
The difference is in the type of timber used. The Rustic shed is constructed with rough 10mm overlap boards with a 16mm butt jointed roof and floor. The Delux shed is constructed with 22mm kiln dried planed weather sheeting with tongued and grooved roof and floor. Due to the nature of the timber the Rustic Shed is more prone to dampness in wet or very exposed conditions.
You need a clear level site and unless the shed is erected on a patio or tarmac some 4″ solid concrete blocks. The number of blocks depends on the size of the shed.
The average time is a week to ten days. We will contact you 4 – 5 days prior to fitting with a date and time. It is possible to pre book delivery for a specific day. We do not deliver on a Sunday or on Bank Holidays. The lead time in Summer months could be up to 6 weeks.
Even if your shed is not pressure treated and just the standard dip treated, your shed is still treated with a preservative before it leaves the factory. We suggest that you treat the shed again within six months of purchase and every two years thereafter. Ronseal Fencelife is the brand that we recommend but you will find many good proprietary brands in your local hardware store.
Pressure Treated Timber has been C. C. O. treated. This treatment is absorbed into the timber and is very long lasting. The treatment means that minimal further maintenance is required. The timber is a light colour and develops a hint of green with age.
Yes. We require a drawing of your requirements and a 50% deposit.
Yes. The materials and workmanship are guaranteed for one year to cover all seasons.
The Sheds come as standard with a heavy duty grey mineral felt. Optional extras would include upgrading to an anthracite grey steel roof or felt tiles.
If we are informed in advance of the access problems, in most cases, we can make the shed in smaller sections which will go through a house assuming there is a straight run through the house. This will incur a surcharge as the shed is more complex to manufacture and it takes longer to construct.
Yes, pressure treated sheds are a very pale green colour from the treatment used. The standard shed colour is brown. We do not paint sheds to colour.
Online payments are paid for in full when ordering. You can order over the phone or in person and a deposit would not be required. We would require payment in full the day before installation.
Abwood Offer a service to take down and dispose of existing sheds, priced between €100 – 175 depending on the size of the shed.
Debris such as Ivy must be fully removed before taking down the existing shed as we cannot take this away.
Electrics in the existing shed must be fully disconnected as we would not be able to take down and remove the shed until this has been arranged.
Abwood provide one piece of skirting for the front and visible side of each shed. Unfortunately, in some cases sheds would require extra blocks if the site were unlevel which means the skirting may not mask the blocks completely. Extra skirt can be collected free of charge, if Abwood need to fit the additional skirting there would be a call back charge.
Turn Buttons,
We would include 2 turn buttons on all sheds which have a single door.
These turn buttons should be used to keep the doors positioned to avoid them from warping.
Pressure treated timber sheds never need to be painted. As timber is a natural product it will fade in colour to a silver grey over time due to sun exposure. You can paint the shed if you wish, this will not affect the pressure treatment in any way.
Sheds that are fitted on an exceptionally wet day may need time to dry out. The sheds are loaded on the trucks the night before installation. If it has rained over night or while the shed is being fitted the internal frame could be wet. If this occurs it helps to prop the door open on a dry day to speed the drying out process.
